Rustic roses
This would be a pretty centerpiece. It's a good way to use minimal blooms without sacrificing a lush look. Choose the container based on the venue/reception site. I like this rustic, garden bowel but a clear glass or ceramic would work as well.

Petal boxes
Another favor idea that also serves as table decoration. Create these petal boxes out of the paper of your choice, then arrange them in the center of the table. They can be prepared in advance and they'll save you the money and work of arranging flowers, setting candles etc.

Bright table decor
A friend of mine sent this picture from a wedding she recently attended. They used bright colored ribbon to decorate the table. It's a super inexpensive way to decorate and adds a lot of color. Nice and simple.

Bookish?
Then consider naming tables after a brief quote from the book, the authors, the topic, famous couples in love, etc.
You could even place your guests at a table by a topic they might enjoy and have in common. Perhaps they all enjoy cooking, fashion, wine, David Sedaris, a particular polticial view?
You can add a lot of color and texture to your decor for free, if you already own a lot of books or at least within your budget, if you're using it as an excuse to grow your collection! And books look great with ribbons, flowers, candles and just about any decoration.

Finally, give out personalized bookmarks or a favorite book or book plate as a favor.
